Rise settlement "Mědník" later renamed on Měděnec was nearly linked to mining operations that the on local homonymic hillock proceed likely from under 10. century. First documented news of mining come from year 1449.

Extracted here largely argentiferous copper Rudy. Since 1520 was copper market - town with privilege free purchase silver.

At present has municipality Měděnec c. 150 inhabitant plus to the action municipal office coincide municipality  – Mýtinka, Kamenné, Horní Halže a Kotlina.

Municipality Měděnec finds in the area  Krušné hory with magnificent view to the foothills plus on  Doupovské vrchy.
